Author of the eponymous O’Hagan’s Law, John O’Hagan is a backgammon giant.
A midwesterner for life, like so many people, John first played backgammon in college. After a few years playing in tournaments, he started to win, racking up several ABT tournaments, including the Chicago Open two years in a row, the 2009 Nevada State Championships, and several other events. He came in 2nd in Monte Carlo in 2005.
BMAB rates him as Grandmaster Class 2.
John has the knowledge and ability to calculate winning and gammon chances par excellence. See this article he wrote for the Backgammon Learning Center, where he teaches, for one example.
And he wears cool shirts.
